HEAT AND THERMODYNAMICS:
List of Problems:
1. At what temperature do the Fahrenheit and Celsius scales co-inside?
2. A copper sphere of radius 5cm is heated from 0oC to 200oC. What will be the change in volume?
3. In a certain process 400J of heat is supplied to a system and at the sametime 150J of work is done by the system. Find the amount of energy increased in the system.
4. A heat engine performs 200J of work in each cycle and has efficiency of 20%. For each cycle of operation, how much heat is absorbed and how much heat is expelled?
5. A heat engine operates between two reservoirs at temperatures of 25oC and 300oC. What is the maximum efficiency for this engine?
6. The low temperature reservoir of a carnot heat engine is at 7oC and has an efficiency of 40%. It is desired to increase the efficiency to 50%. By how much degrees the temperature of hot reservoir be increased?
7. The normal body temperature is 98.4oF. What will be this temperature in Celsius scale?
8. A steel rod has a length of exactly 0.2cm at 30oC. What will be its length at 60oC?
9. Find the change in volume of an aluminium sphere of 0.4m radius when it is heated from 0oC to 100oC.
10. Calculate the root mean square speed of hydrogen molecule at 800K.
11. Determine the average value of Kinetic Energy of the particles of an ideal gas at 0oC and 50oC. Also find Kinetic Energy per mole of an ideal gas at these temperatures.
12. There is an increase of internal energy by 400 joules when 800 joules of work is done by a system. What is the amount of heat is supplied during the process?
Remember: more are still to come...
